On final approach to runway 09 in heavy downpour and gusty winds, the aircraft experienced an excessive sinkrate until it hit the runway very hard, bounced two times until the right wing broke off at the wing root. The Saab SF-340 then veered off to the left of the runway where it came to a stop on flat ground. According to a passengers statement, on the 3rd bounce, fuel was pouring out the wing and an engine briefly caught fire. The pilots then activated the engine fire suppression system and the fire was extinguished shortly thereafter. It is understood that all passengers and crewmembers on board remained unhurt in the event. Marsh Harbor Airport got a single runway which is 1523 meters in lengh.
NOTE: This accident marks the 2nd hull loss for a SF-340 of Sky Bahamas after C6-SBE was damaged beyond repair in an accidental gear-up event on the ground in JAN 2010.

The aircraft was damaged beyond repair in a hard landing accident on runway 07 at Kupang Airport. The force of the landing impact detached the entire wing section from its rear mountings. The fuselage broke in two immediately behind the wings and the nosegear collapsed. The maingears did not fail. The wings were pointing down at an angle of 45 degrees allowing both propellers to strike the ground. All blades on both propellers failed and broke off impacting the fuselage. The MA-60 came to rest a few hundred meters after touchdown. It skidded on its belly over the runway. It is understood that there were a number a injured persons among the passengers. Weather at the time was reported a favourable with good visibility and winds between 11 and 12 knots. Kupari Airport´s main runway 07/25 (lengh 2500 meters) was closed indefinitely.
NOTE: This was the 2nd incident of an Merpati MA-60 aircraft at Kupang Airport within the last 2, 5 years.(see table below)

During taxi-out from the southern side of the international terminal to the departure runway, the right wing hit a passenger transfer vehicle which was standing within its marked parking area between gate 60 and 61. The wingtip, and outer 2 meters of the right wing received substantial damage in the collision. The uplifted passenger vehicles also sustained major damage. there were no information about any injured persons. The A330 is expected to remain grounded for repairs for a longer time.
NOTE: It appears flight LX 87 had used the lane closest to the terminal whereas Montreal (CYUL) Airport has issued a taxi reglementation instructing all pilots to use the centre line in that area. "Aircraft with wingspan of 36m (118') or more, must taxi in centre lane only".

On approach to runway 15 at Rome-Ciampino Airport, the pilots received a "gear unsafe"-indication from the left maingear. The crew discontinued the approach and entered a holding pattern to the north of the airport. After all attempts to lower the gear remained fruitless, the pilots elected to divert to Rome-Fiumicino Airport for a landing because of their better runway capacities. The pilots touched down on runway 34R with the right main and nosegear only. When speed decayed the left wing dropped and the left engine sraped over the runway surface until the A320 came to a stop on paved ground. An emergency evacuation via slides was initiated in which three passengers were injured. The aircraft received substantial damage. The left maingear was found stuck in a position only halfway out of the gear bay. Traffic at Fiumicino Airport was hampered by the event. It is expected that the aircraft will be removed by 1800L.

In wet and rainy conditions the aircraft the aircraft made a heavy touchdown on runway 18L(eft). The nosegear collapsed rearwards and man wedged underneath the nose of the aircraft. Steering control was subsequently lost. The aircraft departed the left side of the runway where it ran over the grass until it came to a stop on a taxyway. All on board remained uninjured. The runway was closed thereafter. There were media reports speculating about a possible nosegear-first landing.

On landing in heavy rain, the aircraft drifted off the right side of the runway where it came to rest with its nosegear collapsed in soft ground. The left engine casing was also damaged. It is understood that all passengers and crewmembers on board escaped via the L1 emergency slide without serious injuries. Davao City´s single runway is 3000 meters in lengh. There are reports that the pilots reported a technical malfunction on approach. The gear bay doors were found hanging down after landing, which can be a sign of a pressure loss in a hydraulic system which may have contributed to the loss of steering control during the landing rollout. At the time of the landing, Davao City experienced an energy blackout of about 1-2 minutes that may have also also affected the airport runway lighting.

According to local media reports, the aircraft undershot runway 28 by a few meters causing its nose and left maingear to fail. The aircraft then ran on the runway but veered to left of track unti lit came to a stop halfway down the runway. All on board escaped without serious injuries. The left wing broke and the nose suffered ground impact damage. It is believed the aircraft will not be repaired again. At the time of the accident, local weather consisted of fog patches around the airfield.
NOTE: The same aircraft was involved (9N-AHB) in a landing accident at Lukla when it ran against a wall damaging its nose in Oct. 2010. It remained unairworthy for over a year.
NOTE2: Only 5 days before, a Cessna Caravan of Goma Air (9N-AJU) was badly damaged in a landing accident at Simikot.
