On
landing in favourable weather conditions, the aircraft ran off the
end of the runway where it travelled over soft ground until it ended up
against a drainage ditch with its entire undercarriage collapsed. No
person inside the aircraft was killed or seriously hurt. Damage to
the aircraft engines and fuselage being considered as substantial. Early
speculatiins indicate the pilots may had to deal with a faulty
braking system after touchdown. San Pedro Sula-La Mesa Airport has a
single runway (04/22) with a total lengh of 2805 meters.

After what
local media described as a hard landing, the pilots subsequently lost
control and ran beyond the end of runway 20. The Tu-204 struck ILS
antennas and finally the
elevated highway M4 where its fuselage broke into three major parts. The
foreward section of the aircraft including the cockpit came to rest on the
multilane highway M4 next to the approach lights of runway 02. Five of the
eight crewmembers on board died. A stewardess died the following day
bringing the death toll up to five. The surviving crewmembers received serious injuries. At the time the aircraft was
operating on a
repositioning flight without passengers. Local weather consisted of
overcast skies, gusty westerly wings and temperatures 2 degrees below
freezing level. According to unconfirmed sources, the flight was on its
second landing attempt at Vnukovo. There is speculation that the
wheel braking system may have failed after a late touchdown on runway
20.

On approach to
runway 18 in foggy conditions, the aircraft missed the runway, overflew
the aircraft until it impacted trees about 1km south of the airport.
Almost simultaneously the Fokker 100 made ground contact on a nearby road
with all undercarriage down where it killed a motorist until it ran into
an open paddy field where it broke apart. Leaking fuel from ruptured lines
quickly caught fire setting the wreckage ablaze. Fortunately the vast majority of
passengers and crewmembers (among them 2 sercurity personnel) were able to
evacuate. One minor passenger, an 11year old boy was found dead. Another eleven
people, among then both pilots received various injuries. Myanmar
authorities have begun an investigation. Heho Airport is not eqquipped
with an ILS-approach landing aid.

In the early
stages of the cruiseflight, the pilots experienced an uncontained engine
failure prompting them to discontinue further flight and the A330 returned to
Phuket. On landing runway 09, at least one maingear tire burst or deflated
making the aircraft unable to vacate the runway and forcing the airport to
shutdown all operations. All passengers were later able to leave the
aircraft unharmed via mobile airstairs. Early reports from different
sources indicate they may have been an engine fire and flanes (or sparks)
were visible from in passenger cabn before landing. The airport
re-opened at 03:35L when the A330 was towed off the runway. Unconfirmed
sources indicate there may have been an uncontained failure of the left
engine #1 and two of three hydraulic systems went inoperational.

The aircraft
went missing on a routine cargo flight from Lima over the Cordilleras Mountains
to Las Malvinas. Residents in the Yauyos Cochas
Province reported, they saw and heared the aircraft hitting high ground near Huaytapallana
Mountain. Other flightcrews in the area reported catching an
emergency locator signal (ELT) about 100 km to the east of Lima during
that time. Search and rescue operations were hampered by adverse weather condition in the
region. The following day, the scattered wreckage was found in the
suspected area. The Antonov impacted in upsloping terrain above tree level. There were no
survivors. Peruvian authorities have opened an investigation.
NOTE: The accident marks the 2nd severe occurence for Amazon Sky this
year after another Antonov AN-26 was badly damaged in a belly landing
during a crew checkflight in January (check: list of accident reports
on the JACDEC main page). Two of the seven crewmembers on board the
aircraft happened to be on the fatal accident flight on Dec. 17th.

After an
apparent normal landing on runway 21 at Nizhnekamsk, the aircraft slid off
to the right side of the runway when it was about to turn around 180
degrees. It is yet unclear weather the aircraft came to rest completely
off the runway. It is understood there were no passengers on board the
aircraft. Early reports suggests the runway was contaminated with an icy
layer causing the aircraft to loose it grip. At the time of the landing
local weather consisted of temperatures below freezing level.
