Narrative

The Boeing 737 was damaged when it ran off the runway on take-off at Guangzhou Airport. The pilots remained unhurt.

Flight BK 3024 was gaining speed on runway 19R in pre-dawn darkness when the pilots apparently lost drectional control. The take-off was aborted but the 737 veered off to the side of the runway.

The 737 appeared to have ground-looped when it crossed a taxiway describing a full circle before it came to a stop. Its  right maingear and engine came to rest on the grass.

There were no injuries among the two pilots on board. Damage to the aircraft is supposedly limited to the right engine and maingear.

Asymmetric thrust development during the engine spool-up (CFM 56-3B2) is suspected to have been the cause of the uncontrollable lateral movement.
