The cargo
aircraft was involved in a landing accident at Brazzaville-Maya Maya
Airport, when it ran off the end of runway 23(Right) hitting houses in La
Poudriere neighbourhood. The IL-76 ran into a ravine until it
impacted in a residential area about 300 meters from the southern end of
the runway where it caught fire, broke apart and exploded. More than 20 people lost their lives in the
crash, most of them were ground victims. Other sources reported more than
30 fatalities. Many small houses were destroyed. At the time of the accident, local weather consisted of
high winds, intense rainshowers associated with local thunderstorm acitvity
and windshear probability. The only runway at
Brazzaville (05/33) is 3300 meters in lengh.

On landing at
the Mariscal Sucre Airport on runway 35 in rain, the aircraft departed the
right side of the northern end of the runway (lengh= 3120 m). It came to
rest with all undercarriage off the runway end but within the safety area.
All passengers and crewmembers remained unhurt and were able to leave the
aircraft via mobile airstairs about 30 minutes later. The airport was
forced to close all traffic until the 737 was towed off. It appeared the
aircraft stayed free of hitting any obstacles resulting in only minor
damage, if any. Early informations suggest that aquaplaing may have
contributed to the incident.

After an
apparent normal landing on runway 22L, the pilots lost steering control
when they were about to vacate the runway via the high speed taxyway
"Bravo 4". When the curve to the right increased its sharpness,
the tires lost their grip and the A319 went straight off the taxyway. It
knocked down a taxyway sign until it came to rest about 20 meters further
with all undercarriages embedded in soft ground. All passengers remained
unhurt. They disembarked the aircraft at the spot via mobile airstairs.
Damage to the A319 appeared to be minor.

The A330 was
on approach to runway 18C(enter) at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, when it
deviated from its assigned altitude and flew about 1000 ft. below the
correct approach altitude. When it was intercepting the ILS about 10 miles
north of Schiphol, it came into seperation conflict with the KLM 737 which
was turning south to land on the parallel runway 18R(Polderbaan). Both
aircraft avoid each other and made safe landing at their resp. runways.
The approach pattern of the Garuda flight raised speculation the pilots
may have thought they were cleared for a landing on the Polderbaan. The
incident is udner investigation by netherland authority.

is said to have remained undamaged. According to state officials, the
runway braking coefficient may had been reduced by the presence of wet
snow on the runway resulting in a longer than planned landing run.

Both aircraft
came into close proximity to each other whilst flying en-route about 100
nm north of Bogota. For reasons yet to investigate the northbound A320 was
cleared to climb from 34000 to 36000 ft. when it came into the path of
the southbound A340 flying at 35000 ft along airway UA 301. Both crews
were forced to take immediate evasive action to avoid potential conflict.
They followed their respective TCAS (conflict) resolution advisories
putting the A340 into a climb, while the A320 interrupted its climb and
initiated a derscend. Unconfirmed reprorts indicate both aircraft passed
each other with only 200 ft. vertical distance before normal flying
conditions were resumed.

runway 128R (polderbaan) the left body gear went out of alignment and
remained in a position pointing about 45 degrees to the side. All four
tires on this bogey burst and the wheels were partially ground down when
it scraped down the runway. The 747 came to a safe stop of the runway near
the high-speed taxyway "Victor two" and no passengers or
crewmembers were injured. The runway was blocked for all traffic until it
