The aircraft
was moments away from touchdown when it encountered a shift of wind in
during the flare prompting the pilots to initiate a go-around manoeuvre.
Before the aircraft gained sufficient height,, its tail dropped resultring
in a violent tailstrike before a safe climb-out was achieved. The pilots
landed safely of the 2nd attempt about 30 minutes later. Neither
passengers of crewmebers were hurt. Significant damage was detected to the
lower aft skin of the Boeing 777 a number of frames and the aft pressure
bulkhead also received structural damage. Major repair works are likely to
take place. At the time of the occurence, very strong winds prevailed at
Narita Airport and a large number of aircraft were forced to abort their

The Convair
piston engine cargo aircraft made a forced landing into a lagoon close to
San Juan Airport. There were no reports about any survivors. Shortly after
take-off the pilots radioed a distress message reporting about engine troubles
and smoke in the cabin. The flight got clearance for an immediate landing return to
Luis
Munoz Marin International Airport. However, the pilots were unable to
maintain altitude and went down in a nearby lagoon, about 1 km east of the
beginning of runways 26 and 28. It is understood the aircraft broke
up on water impact. Both pilots - among them the owner of the aircraft Mr.
Uriel Bristol. The flight was carrying 6 tons of bread and other
food packages for the Holsum Company.

The
aircraft was taxiing to its assigned gate when its left wing hit a parked
passenger bus causing it to flip over. The bus was empty at the time. No
one was hurt. According to local media reports, the bus was standing
outside the assigned movement area and was too close to prevent sufficient
distance to nearby aircraft. Considerable damage occured to left out wing.
The incident is under investigation.
