On
landing runway 27 in darkness, the pilots veered off the right side of the
runway coming to rest with a broken nosegear about 10 meters off the paved
surface. The crew immediately triggered an emergency evacuation during
which a number of passengers received various injuries. The airport was
forced to cease operation for larger aircraft until aircraft removal works
were completed. At the time of the landing, Cochin Airport weather
consisted of rain, strong winds and reduced visibility to about 2000
meters due to haze. Runway lengh at Cochin is 3400 meters.

Both
Airbus A300 aircraft were destroyed during heavy ground battles at the
International Airport of Tripolis, when rebels attacked Gaddafi Loyalist
Forces. The A320 was hit by shelling (prob. RPG) in the lower
fuselage (center wing box area) resulting in a fire which was eventually
contained before the flames could spread. All aircraft have been parked
inactive at the time. No fatalities have been reported which have been
directly involved in the events around the airport attack. There were also
reports about other damaged aircraft at around the airport but still there
is no confirmation about it. As well unconfirmed is a susbtantial damage
to another Afriqiyah Airbus A330 (5A-ONH) which received massive gunshot
damage around the entire fuselage.

On
approach to runway 35T(true) at Resolute Bay in conditions of reduced visibility, the aircraft
crashed about 2 kilometers east the airport and broke apart. 12 people
- among them the entire crew - were killed. Three persons are known to
have survived with critical injuries. The accident site is difficult to
access by road vehicles. Last radio contact with the aircraft was when the
737 was about 8 kilometers from Resolute Bay. As a coincidence, Canadian
Armed Forces were exercising a disaster response operation Nanook 2011 in
the area and were able to support the rescue efforts. At the time local
weather consisted of shallow fog, drizzle and low ceiling reducing foreward
visibility. According to media reports, the aircraft descended to the
ground on a parallel course about 2 miles east of the standard approach to
runway 35T. The accident aircraft was a 737 "Combi"
model, configured in a mixed passenger / cargo layout capable to
accomodate 35 passengers and 5 cargo pallets.
NOTE: This accidents marks the 3rd and worst hull loss occurence for
First Air. It is also the first fatal hull loss of an canadian commercial
jet airliner since 1989.

| Whilst
flying at 33000 feet over Southern Germany, ground stations lost radio
contact to the aircraft for about 15 minutes. No emergency transponder
code was set. Two german Eurofighters were dispatched from Neuburg AFB
went supersonic and which intercepted the aircraft southeast of Munich
until two austrian fighter jets took over in the Salzburg Airspace. At
this time the pilots seemed to realize their error and communications were
re-established. The holiday flight proceeded normally to its destination. |

| The
A330 was accelerating down runway 23 at high speed (excess of 100 kts)
when tower controller ordered the pilots to stop because of conflicting
traffic on the runway ahead. The take-off was safely abandoned without any
damage to the aircraft. The conflict was a private
home built single engine aircraft, which has just landed before of the
A330s departure and was mistakenly taxiing to the active runway when ATC
was forced to intervene. The aircraft - known as "Sling 4" was
on a round-the-world journey from South Africa with its two pilots
unfamiliar with the Taoyuan Airport. |

| Both
aircraft were involved in a serious safety breach incident when the Boeing
777 crew was forced to divert from Shanghai-Pudong Airport to neighboring
Hongqiao Airport after a longer holding time due to bad weather conditions.
The Qatar crew later was forced to transmit an emergency message because
of a low fuel state prompting the air traffic controller to give the
flight priority for landing. However, the pilot of the Juneyao flight -
who were ahead on the landing approach to Hongqiao - refused to give way
to make room for the emergency forcing the Qatar crew to prolong their
approach. The pilot ignored six ATC instructions arguing to have a low
fuel situation as well. Both aircraft safely landed at Hoongqiao. Later
investigations revealed the Juneyao pilot (a South Korean) had fuel
reserves to stay airborne for another 42 minutes while the 777 only got
fuel for 18 minutes when it landed. The Juneyao flight crew was suspended
from duty and is facing further legal punishment. The chinese authority
CAAC imposed restrictions on Juneyao Airlines, ordered the to stop any
further recruitment of pilots as well as to reduce their capacity by 10 %. |

then expressed their intention to return to Magadan. The An-12 was found
crashed in rugged, mountainous northwest of the town of Omsukchan. There
were no survivors. Due to the inaccessability of the crash site by ground,
vehicles were only able to reach the site the following day. Bad weather
and low visibility also delayed search and rescue operations. The aircraft was carrying 17 tons
of food supplies. The flight made a refuelling
stop at Magadan. Initial finding from the wracke examination, apparently
supported the theory the aircraft may have suffered an inflight fuel leak
which my have lead to an explosion. The last major overhaul for the
aircraft was carried ot only 2 weeks before the crash in a facility at at
Rostov.
On Aug.10 according to an instruction by the Russian Transport Agency
Rostransnadzor, all An-12 aircraft were subject of a countrywide ban. The
Agency further states that Avis-Amur Airline has been issued a warning
about safety shortcomings in may 2011.
NOTE: For Russia this accident marks the 6th hull loss event in the
current year.

On
landing in bad weather conditions, the An-24 ran off the side of runway 36.
After travelling over downsloping terrain for about 200 meters, the aircraft came to a stop
minus its undercarriage. The left wing broke off after tree impact. The majority of passengers were
able to escape without serious injury. At the time of the landing the
airport weather consisted of rain thunderstorm activity and gusty winds.
The only available runway at Blagoveshchensk is 3120 meters in lengh. The
aircraft was acquired in May 2011 from Air Urga (Ukraine). On Aug. 17th,
the russian authority Rostransnadzor suspended the operating
certificate of the airline after another An-24 left paved runway on
take-off at Chita.
