Very
soon after take-off from runway 06 at Durban International Airport, the
aircraft drifted right, lost height and impacted ground again
approximately 600 metres beyond the end of the runway. The Jetstream came
down in the schoolyard of the Merebank Primary School where it hit a fence and
houses breaking in three parts before it came to a stop. One pilot later
died in hospital the others on board survived the crash. One female person on the
ground was injured. Fortunately no fire erupted. According to initial
statements by airport officials the pilots reported engine problems
immediately after getting airborne. At the time of the accident, local
weather was excellent with unlimited visiblity and calm winds.

approach to Stuttgart the pilots received a "gear unsafe"
indication. All attempts to lower the main landing gear proved
unsuccessful, Consequently, when the flight has reached its minimum fuel
capacity, a gear-up landing was made on a foamed part on runway 07. Large
streaks of sparks and flames were seen but the Fokker 100 came to a safe
standstill on the centreline. The fire was quickly extinguished by the
airport fire brigade. Only one minor injury was reported. Damage to the
lower fuselage, main gear doors, landing flaps and tail structure is
likely to be high.
NOTE: The aircraft was very recently acquired by Contact Air from
previous owner Mandarin Airlines (Taiwan) on August 29 2009.

747 was in the process of the push-back maneuvre from its gate position to
taxyway "Alpha 3" when
sparks and flames were seen coming from left outer engine # 1. An emergency evacuation was performed
via chutes. There were no reports about any injured persons. The fire was quickly extinguished by airport
fire services although fire damage was visible on the engine and outer
wing assembly. Early reports from airport officials stated the fire may
have been caused by a fuel leak. The incident is under investigation by
the indian DGCA.

| On
final approach, the pilots received an engine fire warning confirmed by
tower personnel. Flymes were seen soming out of engine #1 during landing.
The crew initiated an emergency evacuation via starboard exit-slides
after the E190 had come to a stop on the runway. No injuries reported. The
fire was quickly extinguished by airport fire services. |

747 made a safe precautionary landing at Perth after the pilots shut down
number 4 engine during cruiseflight because of a suspected fuel leak.
NOTE: The same aircraft was involved in a mid-air emergency in
July 2008 when an explosion in an oxygene bottle occured ripping a hole in
the right fuselage. The aircraft diverted safely to Manila. |
