Both aircraft averted a potential collison on the runway when they simultanously began their take-off on intersecting runways. When tower personnel noticed the potential conflict he ordered the cancellation of the take-off run and both aircraft came to safe stop before the crossing. The incident is under investigation. Mumbai International Airport has two diagonal runways intersecting each other at about midpoint. Early reports indicate that tower controller only issued take-off clearance to the Jet Airways pilot.
