Narrative

On landing in rain, the 737 ran off the end of the runway coming to rest with its nosegear collapsed. None of the 152 on board was injured.

UPDATE

On landing in rainy conditions, the 29 year old Boeing 737-300 did not stop before the end of the runway 35 at Manokwari. The aircraft ran beyond the paved runway and ploughed across soft grass where the nose undercarriage dug in or collapsed rearwards. It came to rest about 20 meters further.

An evacuation was carried out via integral slides in which no passenger or crewmember was seriously injured.

The airport was forced to close all traffic until the aircraft was removed.

Runway 17 / 35 at Manokwari is 2012 meters in lengh.
