The aircraft failed to stop at the end of the runway coming to rest in snow about 80 meters further. All on board remained safe.

ANA Wings flight NH 1831 (on behalf of All Nippon airways) was landing runway 01R at New Chitose-Intl Airport, Sapporo, Japan, in light snowfall conditions. Runway 01R / 19L is 3000 meters in lengh (9842 ft).

At the end of the runway the pilots are required to take taxiway „Bravo Two“ to proceed to the main ramp, however the aircraft continued beyond the paved area and ran into deep snow where it came to a stop about 80 meters further. There were no reports about any injuries among passengers or crewmembers.

There was no collapse of any undercarriage and the aircraft did not receive serious damage. Passengers deplaned normally via on-board stairs.

According to a preliminary pilot statement, the Dash 8 aircraft failed to turn left because of a slippery surface.

The eastern runways remained closed until the aircraft was removed some hours later.
