2015-09-17 Western Global MD-11F damaged in hangar fire at Oscoda
The MD-11 suffered serious damage when a fire broke out during maintenance in a hangar.
The aircraft underwent maintenance works in a hangar at Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport, when a fire broke out in a cargo compartment.
It is understood that three people of the technical crew received serious fire injuries, according to the FAA’s preliminary report.
Damage to the MD-11 is believed to be substantial.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
