2015-04-28 Felix Airways CRJ-700 destroyed during air raid at Sanaa

Narrative

In the morning hours, Saudi Arabia carried out air-strikes against the aerodrome in Sanaa, Yemen. The military operation named „Restoring Hope“, targeted Houthi rebels who had vowed to dislodge President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi.

In the air-raid the cvilian Canadair Jet took a direct hit, caught fire and and was gutted to total destruction.

The Saudi-led coalition bombed the runway of the country’s main airport to prevent an Iranian flight from landing, officials from both sides said.

An airport spokesman said, that a cargo plane was also hit.

An official at the Yemeni civil aviation authority said the runway was targeted by 20 sorties that destroyed both the take-off and landing runways.
